Belonging to a reputed business family of Varanasi, Shri Om Prakash Gupta is a Business graduate from the prestigious Banaras Hindu University. He could not continue his studies further because of his active engagement in his father’s business. His grandfather (Late) Nandoo Ram was a leading businessman of tobacco in Varanasi and his father late Seth Madho Prasad used to help him. Later on, his father set up Nandooram Khedanlal Tobacco Manufacturing Firm in Aurangabad, Varanasi in 1920, which remained in existence till 1965.

The business was further expanded to a wholesale spice firm in Visheshwarganj, Varanasi, which was also a big success.

After the death of his father in 1968, his elder brother Shri Yatindra Kumar Gupta and Ashok Kumar Gupta looked after the business and family as guardian. Gradually thereafter, he parted ways and decided to follow his own way. And he decided to test his luck in real estate and opened an office with the name of “Aakash Builder” in the Lahartara, Varanasi area in 1989, which was a proprietorship firm. He started this business in an absolutely new field by the investment of meager one lakh rupees and with just three staff members including himself. Later he started Roma Builders & Promoters Pvt. Ltd. in 1991 in Aurangabad, Varanasi, and this was the moment, which changed his life.
